An online academy to protect your assets and stop surveillance.
Why shamed: Does not accept Monero or any crypto at all despite the focus on privacy and teaching people about it. They only accept credit cards.
https://mailbox.org/
Never Added XMR
mailbox.org has built a credible and solid offering around security, confidentiality and data sovereignty. Their infrastructure, their certifications and their technical choices show a real desire to protect users against surveillance and commercial exploitation.
Why shamed: However, this promise remains incomplete as long as the payment remains traceable. By linking an account to a traditional financial identity, part of the anonymity is mechanically weakened, creating a point of vulnerability even outside of their technical system.

The integration of Monero (XMR) would make it possible to fill this inconsistency by extending protection to the act of payment itself. This would offer users true end-to-end anonymity, consistent with the values that mailbox.org already claims.

Adopting Monero would not only be a technical improvement, but a strong positioning: that of a service which fully assumes the protection of its users, without compromise.
A free open source disk encryption software for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. The premier encryption solution for FDE and encrypted containers.
Why shamed: XMR donation option suddenly dropped (https://veracrypt.io/en/Donation.html) without explanation after accepting it for years. Though to be fair to the dev, he in particular has a high threat profile due to the nature of the Veracrypt software he develops. He mentioned in his forum a few months ago that he was "gone for a few months", and early in 2026 his Microsoft developer account was banned. Perhaps that played a part in it? Maybe he saw it was banned and may have thought XMR donations played a part in the decision, and removed XMR in his panic?

Because of the pressure a dev like this gets, and due to his contribution to the privacy/security community, I would propose a "soft" shaming, since it may not be his fault/he felt he was forced to remove XMR as an option.

ARCHIVED PROOF that XMR used to be accepted, (at least) as recently as late 2024, but I'm almost positive XMR was still supported when I did my usual mid-year 2025 donations: https://archive.is/jOo6p
Mozilla Thunderbird is a free and open-source personal information manager primarily used as an e-mail client with a calendar and contact book, as well as an RSS feed reader, chat client (IRC/XMPP/Matrix), and news client. NO2ID is a campaigning organisation. We are a single-issue group focussed on the threat to liberty and privacy posed by the rapid growth of the Database State, of which (in 2025) “digital ID cards” are the most visible part.

We are entirely independent. We do not endorse any party, nor campaign on any other topic. (This is related to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.)
Why shamed: 1)"We are entirely independent." - while allowing only Stripe, PayPal donations
2)"opposing the government’s digital ID system (“digital ID cards”) and the Database State." - while creating database entries with every donation
3)NO2ID - it their name they have no to ID while PayPal and banks require IDs to use money
Founded in 2005, Open Rights Group (ORG) is a UK-based digital rights organisation that campaigns to protect our rights to privacy and free speech online.
Why shamed: 1)"We raise awareness, campaign, lobby, go to court – whatever it takes – to challenge restrictions to our human rights. " - while accepting donation via PayPal, card but banks restrict access for money and can freeze account.
2)" For example, migrants, people from racialized backgrounds, disabled people and people on lower incomes are more likely to be affected by intrusive surveillance, weakened data protection and discriminatory automated decision-making." - yes and less likely they can open bank account. Everyone can accept and use Monero
3)"We challenge threats to privacy by both the government through the surveillance of our personal communications and private companies, who use our personal data to increase their profits." - and accepting only banks and PayPal. Again, same stuff
Reclaiming privacy. Defending freedom. They work to roll back the surveillance state and protect the rights of everyone in the UK to be free from unfair intrusion.
Why shamed: Doesn’t accept Monero, crypto or any form of donation except credit card.

Why shamed: They implemented support for Bitcoin very early on: https://itch.io/updates/introducing-bitcoin-support

But as it always happens, they dropped this feature because Bitcoin is not used as money. They should take a new look at Monero in the year 2026 to consider supporting it as a payment method instead, as users already request it: https://itch.io/t/4518809/crypto-assisted-payment

404media says, "We help protect you from overreaching government demands for your personal information." While only offering Stripe to pay for their services, 404Media fails at this promise—the US government and 1000s of corporations can see exactly who pays for a 404Media subscription—what they look like, what else they purchase, when they purchase it, where they live. This is totally unnecessary information to collect just to read a newspaper.

StartMail is a secure, privacy-focused email service launched in 2013 by the creators of Startpage, based in the Netherlands under Surfboard Holding BV, offering end-to-end encryption and no tracking or data selling
Why shamed: StartMail should accept Monero (XMR) payments to align with their privacy-focused mission, as XMR provides untraceable, anonymous transactions that enhance user confidentiality beyond traditional methods like Bitcoin or credit cards.

Key Reasons Supported by XMR's Strengths:
Superior Privacy and Anonymity: XMR uses ring signatures, stealth addresses, and confidential transactions to fully obscure sender, receiver, and amount—ideal for a service like StartMail that already offers PGP encryption and no-tracking policies, unlike traceable fiat or BTC.

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting and protecting human rights globally, with an emphasis on authoritarian regimes. HRF organizes the Oslo Freedom Forum. The Human Rights Foundation was founded in 2005.
Why shamed: Their "Financial Freedom" program examines how authoritarian governments use economic controls to suppress dissent. These controls may include surveillance of financial activity, targeted asset freezes, inflationary currency policies, and the exclusion of critics, journalists, and civil society organizations from access to banking systems.

The program supports initiatives to increase financial resilience among human rights defenders, including training on the use of decentralized tools such as cryptocurrencies, encrypted digital wallets, and privacy-preserving technologies. It also promotes financial literacy for individuals operating in closed societies.

They accept donations in the form of traceable BTC, but do not mention Monero even once as a means of protecting dissidents. Their website is barely accessible via Tor.
